Jharkhand government has launched the Universal Pension Scheme 2025, offering ₹1000 per month to senior citizens, widows, and specially-abled individuals, with relaxed eligibility norms.

About Jharkhand Universal Pension Scheme 2025

The Jharkhand state government has introduced the Universal Pension Scheme through amendments recommended by the Women, Child Development, and Social Security Department. The scheme ensures that eligible citizens—those above 60 years, widows above 18 years, and disabled persons—receive ₹1000 monthly unless they fall under these exclusion categories:

• The applicant or immediate family is an income tax payee.
• The applicant or immediate family is a permanent employee of the Centre, State, or any PSU.

Universal Pension Scheme in Jharkhand Budget 2022-23

In his Budget 2022-23 speech, the Finance Minister stated: “Our government has always supported the poor. To fulfil this aim, the Universal Pension Scheme was envisioned with simplified eligibility. So far, 2.9 lakh people have benefited. The remaining will be covered in the current fiscal year.”

Who Can Benefit from the Universal Pension Scheme?

Under new rules, APL/BPL card proof is not required. Beneficiaries can show their Voter ID to register. All citizens above 60 years are eligible unless they are taxpayers. Widows above 18 years can apply with their husband’s death certificate.

Other Women Eligible for Pension

– Abandoned women above 18 years
– Single women above 45 years
Certificates from Mukhiya, Panchayat Secretary, Ward Councillor or Gazetted Officer/MLA/MP are needed.

Monthly Pension Transfer to Beneficiary Accounts

All eligible persons will receive ₹1000 in their bank accounts by the 5th of every month. The state ensures that all qualifying individuals are covered under this social security scheme.

How to Apply for Jharkhand Universal Pension Scheme

To apply:

• In rural areas: Contact the Block Development Officer (BDO).
• In urban areas: Contact the Circle Officer (CO).

Jharkhand Old Age / Widow / Viklang Pension Amount Raised

Under the revised Universal Pension Scheme, beneficiaries will now receive ₹1000 instead of ₹600. This increased amount will be credited before the 5th of every month.

₹1000 per Month Direct Transfer

The raised amount will be directly transferred to beneficiary accounts, removing middlemen. The scheme aims to uplift:

• Senior Citizens
• Widow Women
• Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)
